Summer Fun Ideas - Are You Tired of Hearing Your Kids Say "I'm Bored"?
As a Mother of 4, I constantly hear the words "I'm bored" in the summer. It's as if, kids don't know how to be kids anymore! Without a video game or some other sort of contraption, they think there is "nothing" for them to do! If you have experienced this same phenomenon, I have come up with some summer fun activities that may help take the "I'm bored" out of your kids vocabulary.
#1 If you are like me, your scrapbooks are now located in a picture file on your computer. As far as scrapbooks go, my two youngest children hardly even exist! Why not, upload and print out some of those pictures to a local photo shop and put your kids to work on their own scrapbooks. Make sure to load up on scrapbook supplies, scissors, glue and paper to keep them occupied for as long as humanly possible!
#2 Set up a lemonade stand. My kids have always loved selling lemonade to neighborhood kids. I'm not sure if it's their entrepreneurial spirit or watching the money pile up (a pile of quarters, dimes and nickels can seem like a lot of money to a kid). Another option is to set up a candy stand or sell snow cones. In the fall, you can try hot chocolate or apple cider and donuts. The possibilities are endless!
#3 My boys are involved in Boy Scouts. You can look into joining a scout troop for your boys or if you can get your hands on a scout book from your local scout office, it can be a great way to get ideas on things to do in the summer. Try passing off a merit badge per day or even per week. A boy scout book is full of great ideas of fun and useful things that you can teach kids all year long. You can teach them how to budget money, basic yard work, outdoor skills, handyman skills and basic maintenance on homes and cars.
